is our dream-come-true that we are so happy to share with the world!  Tertsa is a tiny village hidden in a beachside valley on the island of Crete that we have called home for more than 20 years. It is a haven for those that seek true retreat from the fast paced modern world.

Our yoga school and shala is built atop the highest point of the village, nestled in the valley with sweeping views of the sea, surrounded by wildflowers and rocky cliffs - the perfect place to find your peace of mind.

The school offers accommodation for up to 12 students, as well as a main house for guest teachers.

The Founders

met in Tertsa over 20 years ago, and have since traveled the world together, living in many different countries but always returning to Tertsa.

Nathalie’s deep love for yoga began in 1986 when she met Danny Paradise and Cliff Barber in Goa, India. Her love for yoga and the simple life eventually brought her to Crete.

Andreas’ has always found passion in what he can craft with his own two hands; be it playing music designing and building construction projects and landscaping; which he followed as a profession for more than 30 years.

With their individual passions, they have designed and personally built the school and retreat of their dreams. A true labour of love, Tertsa Yoga & Retreats seeks to bring people together in harmony through Andreas & Nathalie’s shared love of natural living and yoga.

is a 50m2 wooden covered platform ideal for yoga and other wellness activities and workshops. During the summer months (we have a long season here - from April to October) drop-in yoga classes are led by Nathalie Gesche and a variety of international teachers host exciting workshops and retreats.

The shala is open air and overlooks Tertsa Valley and the sea. The shala is suitable for anytime of day from April until the end of October. Curtains are found all around the shala to prevent direct sunlight disturbing the practice, depending on the time of day classes are being held.

Yoga mats, yoga wheels, and yoga blocks are available for use in the shala. The shala features a back wall for inversion practice as well as a perfect spot for screening films and documentaries in the evening.

is complete with 4 luxury canvas tents and an outdoor sleeping porch providing a total of 12 single beds. The property features three outdoor toilets and four outdoor showers as well as two indoor toilets and showers.

Meals can be served for up to 20 people on the large covered patio with long tables and an outdoor dinner preparation area.  Tertsa Retreat also features two additional vacation rental properties located just below the retreat. The main house is usually used as the accommodation for guest teachers.

Beyond the retreat is a plethora of activities, including the beach just a short 500m walk away. In the village you’ll find three traditional tavernas and a mini-market. Hiking and nature walks are abundant, including the majestic hike up the Sarakina Gorge.
